SHC moved against MQM man’s ‘extrajudicial killing’

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Friday approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) against alleged extrajudicial killing of its another activist Muhammad Adil.

MQM leader Nasren Jalil, and father of deceased activist, jointly filed petition in SHC, naming interior ministry, home ministry, provincial chiefs of police and rangers, additional inspector general Shahid Hayat, SP New Karachi, and head of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station as respondents.

Petitioners submitted that Adil was apprehended during a raid at his residence in North Karachi by law enforcers and returned to family in a half-dead condition by law enforcement agencies. They said that he was subjected to torture during custody which caused injuries to his head.

Adil was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment where doctors pronounced him dead. They pleaded to the court to direct official respondents to pay compensation to the legal heirs of deceased activist and order registration of murder case against police officials.
