SHC orders probe into girl kidnapping case

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed Malir police officials to conduct fair and transparent investigation into kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl from Malir and bring those involved in her abduction to justice.

A division bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah gave this direction while hearing a petition filed by Khalid, a resident of Malir, who moved the court seeking whereabouts of his missing 17-year-old daughter Madiha.

The petitioner told the court that his daughter went missing on July 04, 2013 and since then her whereabouts were still unknown to him. He said that later he lodged a kidnapping case at Malir city police station nominating an accused Hanif, who kidnapped his daughter, but police did not make any effort to recover her.

SDPO Rao Muhammad Iqbal and SI Shahid of Malir City police station told the two-judge bench that when police party got a tip-off about presence of accused, they attempted to arrest Hanif but he managed to flee.

The bench while disposing of the petition directed them to make effort for the arrest of accused and submit fortnightly investigation report to the court.
