KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday sought comments on a petition of wife of former Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) director general (facilitation) seeking release of her husband’s salaries.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan directed finance secretary, secretary TDAP, director general (departmental representative) TDAP to submit their comments and adjourned the hearing of the case by January 22, 2014.
Facilitation Division Director General Abdul Karim Daudpota is booked for his alleged involvement in misappropriation of billions of rupees and was facing criminal proceedings for his alleged central role in the disbursal of fraudulent claims. Disciplinary action was ordered against Daudpota in a scam involving misappropriation of Rs1.27 billion in an export promotion organization, a subsidiary of the commerce ministry.
Her wife Shama Kareem Daudpota submitted that her spouse was implicated in over 30 cases with mala fide intentions due to political reasons. He said that her husband was not being provided opportunity of hearing to defend himself.
The petitioner told the court that salary of her husband was stopped by the respondent which was violation of the fundamental rights. He requested the court to direct TDAP authorities to release his salary. He asked the court to restrain FIA from taking any coercive action against her husband and family.
