KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday issued a notice to investigation officer (IO) of Arshad Pappu murder case to appear before it and file comments on application of a Pakistan People’s Party lawmaker from Lyari seeking bail in Arshad Pappu murder case.
A division bench headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai was seized with the hearing of bail application filed by PPP MNA Shahjehan Baloch, who moved the court against an order passed by Anti-terrorism Court that dismissed his bail plea.
Assistant prosecutor general Shahzado Saleem submitted that he had not received police papers from investigation officer, hence, he requested the court to allow his sometime to submit reply on bail plea.
The bench issued notice to IO in Arshad Pappu murder case to appear before the court along with relevant record and adjourned the hearing of case Jan 28.
Shahjehan Baloch, a member of the national assembly was arrested for his alleged involvement in abduction and murder case of alleged gangster Arshad Pappu.
Pappu, his brother Yasir Arafat and their associate, Juma Shera, were killed on the night of March 16. The MNA along with Zubair Baloch, Zakir Dada and Abdul Rehman, all in prison, and another suspect Yousuf Baloch, have been charge-sheeted in the case.
Uzair Jan Baloch, the chief of the banned People’s Amn Committee, Habib Jan, Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla, his brother Zahid Ladla, Asif Kana, Faisal Pathan, Yasir Pathan, then SHOs of the Chakiwara and Kalakot police stations Chand Khan Niazi and Javed Baloch are absconding accused persons in the case.
The ATC-III, presided over by Judge Saleem Raza Baloch, had dismissed the bail application of MNA Baloch after hearing arguments from the prosecution and defence attorneys.
A case was registered on a complaint of Pappu’s widow, who alleged that the victims were killed at the behest of the accused MNA.
