Karachi: Sindh Provincial Branch of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has immediately started its relief operation for drought affected people in Tharparkar.
Red Crescent activated its Disaster Management Cell in Mithi and put its trained volunteers on high alert for the relief operation. A rapid assessment team started the need Assessment Survey of affected people.
Red Crescent instantaneously dispatched food parcels with milk packs for 1000 families and also deployed a Mobile Health Unit having medicines in drought affected areas. The medical teams included Child Specialists and paramedical staff. The food parcels comprises of Flour (ATTA), Rice, Dall (Channa), Dall (Masoor), Cooking oil, Tea, Sugar, Salt, Milk etc.
Sindh Red Crescent Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem said that PRCS-Sindh branch in collaboration with its National Headquarters Islamabad is arranging further 5000 food parcels package with milk. He said Red Crescent is helping most vulnerable people since 1947 and keep this duty on and Red Crescent will help the drought affected people of Tharparkar.
