Sindh uplift budget might be cut to divert funds for Thar relief: Sharjeel


KARACHI: Sindh Minister for information and local government Sharjeel Inam Memon on Thursday said the development budget for the entire province might be reduced if needed so as to address problems of people of Tharparkar.

He said that a special development package would also be reserved for Tharparkar. He said relief work in the area was being conducted in all areas of districts Tharparkar in a transparent manner.

Memon said that the drought-affected populous of Tharparkar was provided with wheat, edibles and other necessities of life on fast track basis.

He said that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah had already announced to establish the Tharparkar Development Authority while the pace of ongoing development projects in Tharparkar would be accelerated and hospitals in Tharparkar would be upgraded shortly.

The Minister contradicted reports about delayed, curtailed and poorly-managed relief work in Tharparkar. He said the CM was personally overseeing such relief works and had been visiting Tharparkar every other day.

He said that Sindh government would not allow wheat shortage to occur in Tharparkar while free distribution of wheat was being carried out in whole district. Sindh government was taking care of people of Tharparkar and would not leave them alone in these difficult times.
