Karachi: A shutter-down strike was observed in Karachi on Friday against the target killing of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- Samiul Haq (JUI-S) leader Mufti Usman Yar Khan.
All markets and bazaar remained closed and public transport was off road. Petrol pumps and gas stations also remained shut. All private schools in the city were closed while major universities postponed their examinations scheduled on Friday.
The call of a peaceful strike was given by the JUI-S and Ahle-Sunnat-wal-Jamaat. The law enforcing agencies and police patrolled the city streets to avert any untoward incident.
