Summit 2021: Governor urges students to play due role in national development

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said on Wednesday that there was a lot of potential for IT industry in the country and the present government was supporting all such initiatives. “I am proud of the performance of NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi as the university is committed to promoting education in line with modern requirements,” he said while addressing the Pakistan Intelligent Education Summit 2021 at NED University.

The governor said that those steps would revolutionize the education sector. He urged the students to complete their education and play their due role in the development of the country by enduring the difficulties encountered in the pursuit of education with passion and happiness.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Surosh Hashmat Lodhi, Vice-Chancellor, NED University, said that the outbreak of Covid-19 had caused great loss to the students, however, the university adopted an alternative method and controlled that loss through online teaching.

Dr. Shaista Sohail, Executive Director, HEC, said they were working closely with Huawei to further modernize online education and nurture the talents of the students. “This is a revolutionary step in promoting education,” Shaista said. S MD Huawei said: “We are digitizing education and in this regard, Huawei is transferring modern technology to Pakistan so that education is not affected even in a situation like Code19. Meanwhile, a five-member delegation of Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Colleges Institutions called on Sindh Governor Imran Ismail at Governor House today. The delegation was led by Prof Syed Razi Muhammad, President, and Sindh chapter of the association.

During the meeting, Prof Razi told the governor that the association was providing professionally trained doctors which was also increasing the quality of health facilities in the country. He said the association should be included in the consultation process for legislation in federal and provincial legislative forums. The delegation said that there are a total of 160 medical colleges in Pakistan out of which 110 are in the private sector. Razi requested the governor to talk to the federal government to implement the recommendations made by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). The governor assured the delegation of solving their issues.
