Karachi: Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association, Sheikh Saqib Saeed Masood has said in a press statement that very huge amounts of Duty Drawback & Sales Tax Refund Claims of the member exporters are stuck-up with the Collectorates concerned and have not been cleared so far despite numerous reminders issued to FBR.
The Association’s member exporters feel it very hard to continue their business smoothly in the wake of a host of challenges marked by power & gas crisis, law & order concerns, rising prices of POL etc. Non-payment of their refund claims of millions of rupees has further exacerbated their grievances to great extent. It has become well nigh impossible for them to meet the commitment of foreign buyers’ export orders. This situation is quite alarming. It is not only detrimental to leather industry but also a colossal loss to the national kitty.
He appealed to the Chairman FBR to take notice of this critical situation and direct the authorities concerned to settle all the pending claims of Duty Drawback and Sales Tax of PTA members concerned expeditiously to get them rid of liquidity crunch and production impediments otherwise it will not be possible to achieve the export target set by the Government.
