Karachi: A Turkish Coast Guard delegation comprising 5 officers reached Pakistan on Tuesday on a four-day visit.
The delegation was headed by Rear Admiral (UH) Hasan Usaklioglu. The delegation visited HQ Maritime Security Agency to discuss matters of mutual interests and enhancement of bilateral relations between the two law enforcement agencies.
They were briefed about the role, functions and importance of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA). Both the LEAs discussed matters/issues related with joint training, maritime security in Indian Ocean and concept of collaborative security against piracy.
Additionally, the topics of anti drug trafficking and human smuggling also came under discussion during interactive sessions.
It was decided to conduct joint workshops on topics of maritime security. It may be recalled that recent years have witnessed enhanced cooperation between PMSA and Turkish Coast Guard. In this connection, a high level delegation of PMSA headed by Cdre Azir Mumtaz (SBt) visited Turkish Coast Guard in June 2012.
