KARACHI: Two policemen embraced martyrdom in a hand grenade attack and firing on Awami National Party (ANP) leader in Baldia Town, Karachi, on Sunday noon. However, ANP leader Abdul Razzaq Bunairi remained unhurt.
According to SHO Baldia Inspector Khalid Javid four assailants riding two motorcycles first threw a hand grenade and then opened firing on Bunairi’s vehicle battery shop, located at Saeedabad Block J. As a result two policemen Abdul Rahim and Khan Muhammad, on security duty, were seriously injured and died on the way to hospital.
He said that the martyred personnel were deployed as guards of the ANP leader as he had threats and requested security, adding that at time of attack both the cops stood outside the shop while Bunairi was present inside the shop and he escaped the attack.
ANP Sindh chapter spokesperson Abdul Malik Khan strongly condemned the attack and said that the shop was badly damaged.
