KMC to give contract jobs on merit


KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has said on those contract employees will be given fresh contract whose services are genuinely required and whose performance was found satisfactorily.

Addressing a meeting of departmental heads in his office on Tuesday, he asked them to send only cases of those contract employees who had proved useful for the department so that their list could be finalized for issuing them fresh job contracts.

He urged the officers of recovery department to achieve the recovery targets to improve the financial condition of KMC. He stressed the need of observance of punctuality by the departmental heads and other staff. He said the cleanliness condition in the offices of KMC must improve also and discipline should be maintained there.

The meeting informed that a total of 1643 contract workers were employed in July 2013 in KMC out of which contracts of 382 employees expired by December 2013 and out of 1358 contract employees only 1318 contract employees were on duty now.

Administrator directed HRM department to ensure impartiality in the selection of contract employees for awarding of fresh contracts on purely merit.
