KP government announces to hold LB election in March


Peshawar: Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Government on Wednesday announced to hold Local Bodies Election in the province between March 15 to April 7th for which all the preparations have been finalized.

Provincial Minister for local government Enayatullah Khan while addressing a news conference said that provincial government has finalized the arrangements for the Local Bodies Election however some of the political parties have challenged the Local Bodies Act in the court therefore the election could be delayed.

“Some of the political parties want run away from the local bodies election this why they have challenged the Local Bodies Act in the court. Government is ready to hold the election between March 15 to April 7th. if the election is delayed the

political parties who took the matter to the court will be responsible for the delay,” he remarked.

He said that the demarcation of constituencies has been completed and appeals against this demarcation would be heard in 15 days and the process will be completed till January 15th.

Enayat said provincial government would spend 30% of the development fund through local bodies’ elected members while they will also generate their own funds. He hoped that a big change will come after local bodies election as people will solve their problems at their door steps.
