Aafia’s mother greets JI chief


Lahore: The mother of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, on Saturday, contacted the newly elected Ameer of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, by telephone and congratulated him on his election. She also discussed with the JI Ameer, the matter of Dr Aafia s release.

The JI Ameer assured the elderly lady that the JI would continue its best efforts for the release of the distinguished Pakistani daughter presently in US jail on most flimsy charges. He said that the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s was the issue of the Pakistani nation. He also appealed to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take every possible step in this direction.

Meanwhile, Mrs Aamina Masood Janjua, chairman, Defense of Human Rights, struggling for the release of missing persons, also rang up the JI Ameer and greeted him on his election. The JI Ameer assured the lady of JI’s all out support for her great cause. He said that the failure of the government in the recovery of the missing persons was a slur on the fair name of the country.
