LAHORE: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has called for the release of three laborers and two coastguard personnel believed to be in the custody of an insurgent group in Balochistan.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Commission said: “HRCP has come to learn that Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has two coastguard personnel and three laborers in their custody.
“The Commission calls upon the group to release the men on humanitarian grounds. HRCP also calls upon the group and others groups active in the province to spare con-combatants and especially the poor laborers who are trying to eke out an existence amid the violence and lawlessness in Balochistan.”
HRCP also reiterates its call to the government to address the situation in the violence-hit province through political means and ensure that no agent of the state engages in any human rights violation and particularly calls for a zero-tolerance policy on enforced disappearances.”
