LAHORE: Acting Chief of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the Muslim Ummah could march on the road to progress only by associating itself with the Holy Quran. He was addressing a ceremony marking the completion of a 40-day study of the Holy Quran at the Mansoora mosque.
Maulana Abdul Ma’lik conducted the course which was attended by around four hundred girls besides 150 male students. JI old guard Ch. Mohammad Aslam Saleemi, presided over the function which was also addressed by JI deputy chief Hafiz Mohammad Idrees.
Liaqat Baloch said that it was obligatory for the faithful to fully understand the Quran, implement its teachings and to spread its message to the entire humanity.
He said that the enemies of Islam were making a propaganda that as long as the Quran was around, peace could not be established in the world. Terrorism was being linked with the mosque and the pulpit. He said there was a specific master mind behind this move and was breeding hatred against Islam.
He said that the reality was just the opposite. Islam and the Quran are the message of peace for humanity. All man-made systems had failed and more and more people were entering Islam’s fold for peace.
The Holy Quran, he said, was the word of God and no worldly power could harm it. He said that the Muslims at present stood divided on the basis of sects and factions while Muslim unity was the foremost need of the Ummah and it could be achieved only on the bass of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy prophet (pbuh).
The JI acting chief said that the situation in the country was most disturbing. Corruption had gone into the roots of the society and the list of mega corruption cases submitted by NAB in the Supreme Court included names of big people. He said that when someone was arrested in corruption case, there was much hue and cry and it was projected as a great threat to democracy and the country itself. However, he said, that nobody should be above the law or accountability.
