JI flays US for linking US aid with Afridi’s release

LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has flayed the USA law linking the US aid to Pakistan with the release of Shakil Afridi. In a statement, he said that the US had its agents all over the world who were working for it.

Shakil Afridi was also a US agent who betrayed his country and Washington had suspended aid to Pakistan till the release of its spy, said. He said that the rulers in Islamabad had put the country’s independence and honour at stake to please US but it did not give any weight to that.

He said only time would tell whether the government would hand over Shakil Afridi to the US like CIA agent Raymond Davis, or protected the national honour.

Syed Munawar Hasan pointed out that more than fifty thousand Pakistanis including military men and civilians, had embraced martyrdom in the US war, while the country had suffered financial losses of more than 100 billion dollars. What to speak of acknowledging these sacrifices, the American CIA and India’s RAW were targeting Pakistan’s cities and towns in terrorist activities. The US had repeatedly violated Pakistan’s land and space limits and carried out military activities. As many as 22 troops were martyred in a NATO attack at Salala check post but the US did not offer an apology for that.

He said that the rulers had been serving the US agenda even at the cost of national interests but Washington had never trusted them, and was pressing them to “ Do More” besides openly expressing its distrust in them. The nation, he said, wanted the rulers to immediately pull out of the US war and bid farewell to the US aid.
