LCCI inks MoU to tap EU potential under GSP Plus status


LAHORE: For the collective benefit of the business community and to tap EU potential under GSP Plus status, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday inked an MoU to market Pakistani Merchandise in all the 27 European Union Members.

The LCCI president Engineer Sohail Lashari and Ahmad Mehmood Joyia signed the document in the presence of a large number of businessmen.

As per MOU, the LCCI will provide necessary data while the second party would explore the available opportunities.

The marketing expenses would be borne by Ahmad Mehmood Joyia who will act as LCCI honorary GSP Plus advisor to market and sell Pakistani products in EU market.

The LCCI will also provide its premises for meetings with members as and when required.

Both the sides will organize workshops, seminars, discussions and lectures to highlight Market opportunities among the members of LCCI and business community.

Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari said that MOU was the part of LCCI efforts for availing maximum benefit from GSP Plus Status.

The LCCI President appreciated the government for making untiring efforts to get GSP Plus Status. He said that this opportunity could only be tapped if the business community was provided, enabling atmosphere for fulfilling the requirements of the GSP plus.

He said that there was no doubt in it that the Punjab Government was quite committed to create a congenial atmosphere for foreign investors but there was a need to make such efforts target-oriented for quick results. Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the MoU would supplement government efforts aimed at progress and prosperity.
