SAARC International Exhibition & South Asia Labour Conference on April 24-27

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Punjab government and International Labour Organization (ILO) is holding four-day mega event comprising SAARC International Exhibition and first-ever South Asia Labour Conference, scheduled for April 24-27, in Lahore .

This was disclosed by the LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari while addressing a Press Conference here on Monday. LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah, Vice President Kashif Anwar and Chairman of Committee Sheikh Muhammad Arshad also spoke on the occasion.

The LCCI President said that the event was unique in the sense that it was the first example of Public Private Partnership as more than three hundred foreign dignitaries were taking part in it. Boarding and lodging expenses of all the foreign delegates would be borne by the Punjab Government

Giving a breakup of the events, Engineer Sohail Lashari said that conference will be held at Pearl Continental Hotel from April 24 to April 26 while Exhibition will start on April 25 and conclude on April 27.

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will inaugurate both events in which foreign dignitaries from 16 countries are going to read their papers pertaining to labour laws in their respective countries.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will Chair the concluding session of the conference while Punjab governor will be Chief Guest at the concluding session of the exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of the committee Sheikh Muhammad Arshad said that various sector of economy, including textile, garments, engineering, carpet manufacturing, etc., will showcase their products and service in exhibition. He said that both federal and provincial governments were hosting separate dinners at Governor House and Hazoori Bagh in the honour of foreign dignitaries to provide them better networking opportunities.

He disclosed that Punjab government invited over 400 foreign business leaders and labour related experts and it was expected that over 300 foreign participants will attend the event. Punjab government has also invited all chief ministers of the provinces of Pakistan including AJK, Gilgit Baltistan would have also been invited to participate in the conference.

He said that at the conference first paper on labour issues would be read by the LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari.
