KARACHI: Lawyers community of Karachi on Monday observed a complete boycott of the legal proceedings in Sindh High Court SHC as well as in subordinate courts in the city to protest against the Peshawar church bombing in which 81 people lost their lives.
Following the call of boycott, lawyers stayed away from SHC, City and Malir Courts due to which hundreds of the cases fixed for the hearing could not be taken up. Many litigants, who had come to pursue the cases, had to face problems due to strike and they had to leave home without getting justice.
The meeting of general body of SHC Bar Association, which was held under chairmanship of its President Mustafa Lakhani, strongly condemned the Peshawar church blasts in which 81 people, including women and children, were killed.
In a resolution, SHC Bar Association said that elements behind the attacks were waging war against the Almighty Allah and His Prophet PBUH. The elimination of terrorist at earlier will be better for the country, it said.
“Our brothers should not consider themselves unsafe and alone. The member of bar are with them and Christian fraternity should not feel them alone in this grief and sorrow,” the association said.
The bar association called upon the government to provide best medical treatment to the injured and compensate the victim families.
