Yemeni government welcomes Arab Coalition’s call for ceasefire in Aden

The Yemeni government welcomed on Saturday the Command of the Arab Coalition's call for all the military components and formations of so-called Southern Transitional Council (STC) to withdraw from all positions they seized over the past days.

In a statement to Yemen News Agency (SABA), Yemen's government spokesman Rajeh Badi welcomed the immediate ceasefire in the interim capital, Aden, as of 1 a.m. on Sunday (2200 GMT on Saturday) 11 August 2019. He reaffirmed the commitment of the government to call the Saudi-led Coalition to Support legitimacy in Yemen for a ceasefire.

The spokesman also welcomed Saudi Arabia's call for the Yemeni government and all parties to the conflict in Aden to hold an urgent meeting in the Kingdom to discuss their differences and end strife through dialogue. He further reiterated the government's absolute rejection of all forms of aggression against state institutions, considering any rebellion and bullying against the state as unacceptable.
