Peshawar: A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary, Muhammad Shehzad Arbab at Peshawar to discuss the Right to Inforamtion Act, 2013. Secretary Law, Secretary Local Govt: & Rural Development, Secretary Home, Coordinator RIC and other concerned attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary while highlighting the importance of Law said that Right to Inforamtion Law was the first and historical step towards multi-sectoral change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He directed the concerned authorities to review all aspects and rules of law carefully as there should be no weakness in implementing the law.
He said the real implementation of the law will not only inform the people about official activities and initiatives taken by the government but would also be helpful to redress the complaints of public about officials and departments. This would also be a source of accountability of departments that in turn would make their performance improved. The preparation of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Secretary lauded the biometrics system and said that it was the turning point of history. He further stated that for the first time in history, the local government election are going to be held without interference of government or ruling party as the government wants to appoint judicial officials in this regard, he concluded.
