Islamabad: The National Assembly Friday passed a resolution appreciating the efforts of the government which resulted in the adoption of a resolution by the UN General Assembly against the use of drones.
The resolution moved by Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Birjees Tahir called upon the United States to immediately end drone attacks on Pakistani territory‚ which are against the international law.
Minister of State for National Health Services‚ Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar has expressed the government’s commitment to make Pakistan polio-free country.
Responding to a call attention notice in the National Assembly moved by Zahra Wadood Fatimi‚ she said Pakistan is amongst the three countries where polio virus still exists.
Saira Afzal Tarar said the government is frequently launching polio eradication campaigns to rid the country of this crippling virus. However‚ law and order situation in FATA is hampering our efforts.
She said the Taliban have imposed ban on polio vaccination campaigns in South and North Waziristan Agencies and due to this reason last twelve polio campaigns could not be conducted there.
The Minister of State said the Parliamentarians should also become part of the vaccination campaigns for its success.
