Islamabad: Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of the Senate Defence Committee has said that Pakistan places bilateral relations with Afghanistan in high esteem as destinies of both the countries are intertwined based on our historical, cultural, linguist and religions commonalities.
He expressed these views while talking to a 10-member Afghan delegation led by Mirwaiz Yasini, the first Vice Speaker of Afghan Olasi Jirga. The delegation, After participation in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly left for Afghanistan on Thursday. Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed who was also Chairman of the organizing Committee of the APA saw off the delegation at Nur Khan Airbase, Rawalpindi.
Leader and other members of Afghan delegation agreed with the view of Senator Mushahid and said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan want peace and stability in the region to safeguard the future of coming generations.
They also thanked Senator Mushahid Hussain for hospitality and extended warm felicitations for organizing such a wonderful conference in which issues concerning Asian region were discussed and debated thoroughly.
On the occasion, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed observed that the 6th Plenary of APA was unique and would, in the long run, help in achieving the objectives of peaceful and prosperous Asia. Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that Afghanistan is an important country and a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan and the region.
He thanked the delegation for participation in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The forum, he stated, provided an opportunity to share ideas and experiences with people from different cultures and nationalities.
“Participation of 31 countries in the conference reflects the trust and confidence of the international community in Pakistan that democracy is vibrant and parliament is alive to the needs and aspirations of the people”, Senator Mushahid Hussain added.
Leader of delegation appreciated the efforts of Mushahid Hussain and emphasized that enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan would help in promoting peace and stability in both the countries.
