Pakistan business delegation visits Afghanistan

KARACHI: A high-level 20-member trade delegation of Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber Of Commerce & Industry under the leadership of Co-President PAJCCI Mohammad Zubair Motiwala visited Afghanistan with an aim to explore economic opportunities.

In reciprocity to the delegation from Afghanistan that visited Pakistan in the month of September 2013, participated in Expo Pakistan, met Information Minister Sindh and participated in B2B match-making & networking event, a group of business delegates from Pakistan has joined platform of PAJCCI and is visiting Afghanistan for a business and networking trip.

The prime objective of this visit is to provide an opportunity to the business community across the border to interact with each other for transforming bilateral economic deals. Additionally, it would provide a forum to interact with high level officials and dignitaries of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in order to provide them feedback on PAJCCI’s progress and what further may be done with support of these esteemed entities for augmentation of mutual efforts through resolving disputes and grievances of the business community across the border.

The delegation met HE Mohammad Karim Khalili, Second Vice President-Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and discussed matters of utmost importance that needed urgent resolutions for enhancing bilateral ties and strengthen political and economic stability across the border.

During the day delegation also met Wafiullah Iftekhar, President Afghanistan Investment Support Agency and Mohammad Shakir Kargar, Minister of Commerce and Industry – Afghanistan. During these meetings, both President and Co-President of PAJCCI have emphasized greatly on the importance of improving the ties in both transit and bilateral trade for the mutual benefit of both the countries.

The Chamber has proposed several options via which critically significant improvements to enhance trade relations between two brotherly nations may be ensured without succumbing to any unrelated political or cultural influence. Later on the day, Board Meeting of PAJCCI was conducted and on December 25, 2013 second joint trade survey of PAJCCI would be launched at the 2nd Annual Conference followed by B2B match-making and networking activity. The delegation would depart Kabul on December 26, 2013 with a successful business linkages built during the visit.
