Peshawar: Taking serious notice of one year delay of Rs.164 million reconstruction of old Pavilion of Qayyum Sports Stadium Peshawar’s project, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Adviser, Malik Amjad Khan Afridi has directed the authorities concerned to immediately start work on the project without any further delay and ensure its completion in one year instead of two so as maximum players could be benefited of it side by side promotion of sports in the province.
He issued these directives, while chairing a meeting regarding reconstruction of old Pavilion of Qayyum Sports Stadium Peshawar’s project at Peshawar on Wednesday. The meeting beside others, was also attended by the Secretary Sports Muhammad Humayun Khan and Superintending Engr: C&W Muhammad Ayub Khattak.
The Sports Adviser, while strongly reacting to un-necessary delay on this important project, declared that the responsible of delay would be brought to book and stern action would be taken against them. He regretted, despite having Rs.2.5 billion, even not a single penny had been utilized by the Sports Department on the welfare of players and promotion of sports in the province.
He warned that gone were the days of delaying tactics and now there would be practical work as per manifesto of PTI adding that those creating hurdles or using delaying tactics would be dealt harshly.
Malik Amjad Afridi directed the quarters concerned to re-construct the Stadium’s Pavilion and its Sheds as per international standard and ensure all kind of facilities to the players and all other stakeholders in it. He assured that there would be no excuses of scarcity of funds in this regard and payments would be made well-in time.
The Sports Adviser on this occasion also visited the under-construction Basket Ball Court and ordered its early completion and opening for players. On complaints of the boxing players, he also ordered the opening of Boxing Court for players.
