Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance, Muzaffar Syed Advocate has stressed the need for behavioural change to redress sanitation problems to keep the environment clean and healthy, adding the that provincial government is taking visible steps for the beautification of the provincial metropolis.
This ,he said while talking to a UN team ,comprising of the experts of UN Habitat, headed by Country Manager of the UN body, Bella Evidente at the Conference Room of, Finance Department, Civil Secretariat, Peshawar on Tuesday.
General Manager Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar Govt. Of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , Nasir Ghafoor Khan and Behaviour Change Communications, Office of UN Habitat, Jannat Durrani were present on the occasion.
Expressing interest in sanitation of the Peshawar city, the Country Manager of the UN Habitat disclosed that the UN body was intended to establish an Integrated Resource Recovery Centre for solid waste management of the provincial capital.
The experts explained that the mentioned resource centre will include solid waste management, behavioural change. Community mobilization, composite production and recycling of solid waste. The UN team elaborated that the same facility had already been experienced in Islamabad.
Muzaffar Syed, while responding to the UN team assured all sorts of cooperation of the provincial govt. in making the proposed project a success. He asked the UN expert to put forward a formal proposal to the provincial government to materialize the project soon.
