Peshawar : The KP Health department approved an agreement to establish well equipped Indus Hospital in Peshawar city at confluence of GT Road and Ring Road where every patient will be given quality treatment free of cost and even free medicines will be provided to them under the new agreement land for the hospital will now be provided on the pattern of Shoukat Khanam Hospital instead of lease as agreed previously.
Besides catering treatment facilities in all disciplines and diseases, research activities will also be carried out in all sections in the hospital wherein govt and people will be intimated of the health hazards challenges and precautionary measures in health sector.
KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak held a meeting with the delegation of the hospital administration led by Philanthropist Mohd Atif and EO Sohaib Sethi in this regard at CM House Peshawar that reviewed the progress so far made in the matter. Secretary Health Mushtaq Jadoon and other concerned authorities were on the occasion.
CM agreed with the accord in principle saying that its formal approval will be given in the provincial cabinet meeting to be held soon. It is worth mentioning that provincial govt wanted to grant to land for hospital on lease but the hospital administration was insisting to sell it out on reasonable rate on the pattern of Sindh govt and that of KP govt given to SKMH wherein the health department gave favourable remarks at last.
Atif Haleem who is also executive member of PCSOTXI exchanged views with CM on Insaf Employment Scheme under which notorcycle taxi program will be launched for jobless youth in the province on pattern of developed and developing countries including China, UK, Indonesia and Thailand which would be playing on down town narrow streets and bazaars of the cities.
It will be a quick transport scheme that would also reduce traffic congestion of big taxies and Rikshaws on roads. SMEDA and World Bank have agreed to extend soft loans to KP banks for the purpose.
The Chief Minister was told that soon-after provision of the land construction work will be started while the hospital after completion will be operated by the administration of Indus chain of hospitals.
Indus Hospital admn told on this occasion that design for the hospital has been prepared and construction will be started as soon as the required land and NOC for it is provided that will be completed within one and half year. The hospital he said will provide free, cashless and paperless services to the patients and will work in automated manner due to computerized environment of the entire hospital.
The chief minister had asked the health department authorities to ink formal agreement with the hospital administration for obtaining guarantee of providing free services to all the visiting patients and taking the hospital back in govt custody if complaints of charging fees from any patient received. However he also acknowledged that he personally knew its services and level of dedication in Karachi based hospital.
He while eulogizing the spirit of serving the suffering humanity by the hospital admn said that only such living nations could emerge victorious and get blessings of Allah Almighty. He admitted that Indus hospital would prove blessing for the people of Peshawar in the long run.
The Chief Minister reiterated his directions for frequented visits and inspections of hospitals in all over the province by the minister, secretaries and senior officers of health department.
He underlined the need to visit health centers to check its quality of services and punctuality of staff. He further asked for obeying the discipline of wearing identical uniform and name badges by the doctors and paramedical staff to let the patients know who were serving them.
He said it could only be strictly followed by the medical staff if heads of hospitals and health centers strictly follow it by themselves first.
