Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has approved six development projects for Haripur and Abbottabad districts which also include construction of Havelian-Dhamtor bypass road and establishment of a modern Engineering College at Haripur. He disclosed that Haripur University will be upgraded to the international standard.
He accorded the approval during a meeting regarding new projects of the both districts held at CM Secretariat on Tuesday. The Advisor to the Chief Minister for Communication and Works, Akbar Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to the CM for Information and Higher Education, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, the PTI leader Yousaf Ayub Khan, former MPA Nisar Safdar, Special Secretary to the CM Arshad Majeed Mohmand and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister discussed the new uplift schemes for Haripur and Abbottabad districts which were proposed by the participants and approved six new projects.
They include establishment of a modern engineering college, an Information Technology Training Center and Construction of an additional sports ground at Haripur as well as construction of Havelian-Dhamtor bypass road, soil erosion protection scheme for Havelian and construction of a link road as a part of under construction Jhangra Dam project, Havelian in Abbottabad district.
The 18 kilometer bypass road to be constructed from Ayub Bridge Havelian to Dhamtor at an estimated cost of Rs. One billion will facilitate Nathiagali and Murree bound traffic without entering the congested Abbottabd city.
The proposed engineering college for Haripur will be affiliated with the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, the meeting decided.
The Chief Minister also issued directives for releasing an amount of Rs.175 million for construction of already approved 33 sports grounds in Haripur district. On this occasion the Chief Minister disclosed that efforts were underway to upgrade the University of Haripur to the internationally recognized standard with help and assistance of a foreign consortium. He also accepted the invitation extended by Yousaf Ayub Khan to visit Haripur soon for opening of various completed schemes as well as ground breaking of certain new projects including Haripur bypass road.
