Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has ordered establishment of a new B-type hospital at Kanjoo Township Swat and up gradation of Basic Health Unit, Matta to category-B hospital. He directed the concerned authorities to complete ongoing project of up gradation of three health facilities under Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals by October next and also ensure hiring of doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff against vacant and news posts for these hospitals. He also approved hiring of over 200 health personnel for Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zaid Hospital, Swat.
The Chief Minister issued these orders while presiding over a meeting regarding health affairs of district Swat at CM Secretariat on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by provincial Minister for Information Technology and Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, Minister Irrigation, Mahmood Khan, Advisor to CM for Livestock and Fisheries, Mohibullah Khan, Special Assistant to CM for Housing, Dr. Amjad Khan, Chairman DDAC, Swat, Fazal Hakeem, MPA Azizullah Garan, Secretary Health, Mushtaq Khan Jadoon, Principal Saidu Medical College Dr. Taj Mohammad and other concerned officers.
Directing the Health Department Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said that posting of doctors and other medical staff in all hospitals of the province would be made non transferable and a piece of legislation in this respect was in the offering. He told that under the Act all hospitals would be empowered with autonomous status and they would be equipped with all necessary and modern facilities in such manner that patients will prefer to get medical treatment at their home district.
The Chief Minister also directed to establish Endowment Fund for providing free of cost health services to poor patients. He directed to procure new medical equipments, machinery and other facilities under partnership with private sector so as to ensure their all time maintenance and functioning.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak presided over a meeting of KP Board of Information Technology wherein the board approved revised budget of Rs.380.153 million for current financial year besides taking important decisions regarding other affairs of the board.
The Provincial Minister for Information Technology Shahram Tarakai, Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretaries of Finance and Science and Technology and Information Technology and other members of the board attended the meeting.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak directed the IT Department to take necessary measures for collaborating with private sector to manage the affairs of the board in more effective and independent manner.
He said that his government was following the policy of Public-Private partnership for making the government departments and institutions more beneficial and stronger. He anticipated that by the end of the present provincial government’s term most of the public sector entities would be working autonomously.
He directed the board to present proposals for required amendments in IT Board Act and also recommends targets for the next years. He also formed a committee, to be head by ACS, for exploring and suggesting a suitable site for constructing IT Tower in Peshawar. The meeting also decided to hand over the IT Park, Kohat, to KP IT Board.
