Crystal clear policy to be implemented for medical and dental colleges for curriculum


Peshawar: Secretary Health Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mushtaq Jadoon has said, “Organizing such a successful international conference on Medical Education & Research clearly indicates commitment and professionalism of Khyber Medical University (KMU)’s leadership and its entire team to play a vibrant and very visible role in improving overall quality of medical education. I congratulate all the learned colleagues to have put in the best of efforts to make this conference a successful one.

The keen interest shown by the participants surely mentions nothing but the zeal to improve quality of human life through medical profession, he was talking as chief guest to the concluding session of the three day International Conference on Medical Education & Research held at Multi purposes hall of the university at phase-5, Hayatabad Peshawar.

Secretary Health said, “I hope   this event will provide an opportunity to expose the participants to the basic and applied concepts of medical educational research, basic knowledge about teaching and learning, communication skills, the use of information technology in teaching and learning and playing other roles such as a scholarly educator, an informed assessor and effective team player.

He announced that a crystal clear policy will be in practiced for all medical & dental colleges of the province in respect to implement a uniform curriculum and assessment system. He said that no one is above the law and against those medical & dental colleges who are not affiliated with KMU as per KMU Act will be dealt with prescribed laws in true spirit.

Former VC of KMU Prof. Dr. Mohammad Daud Khan while talking to the concluding session as guest of honor has said that knowledge have never been a static phenomenon it is something which grows with time both in terms of content and scope.

Prof. Daud emphasized that the pearls of knowledge, vision and skills gained by the participants from this conference should be practiced in the better interest of the people of this backward region of the country.

Prof. Dr. Hafizullah VC KMU while highlighted the achievements of the university said that, KMU had eight constituent and 29 affiliated institutes and it is imparting education in various medical, dental and allied health sciences disciplines like MBBS, BDS, Public Health, Physiotherapy, Basic Medical Sciences, Nursing, Paramedics and Health Profession Education.

He hoped that this conference will help to provide a platform for dialogue on issues and challenges being faced by the health professions education system and to disseminate findings of medical educational research undertaken in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Later on the chief guest awarded certificates to the winners of oral & poster presentations and organizers of the event.
