Peshawar: The Gandhara Hindko Board, a literary cultural and social welfare organization, organized a Hindko naatia mushaira or poetry recital session to mark the 12th of Rabiul Awal.
The mushaira was arranged at the central office of the board located at Gulbahar No 2 in Peshawar. A noted Hindko and Saraiki poet Farooq Jan Babar presided over the programme.
A known Hindko and Urdu poet and lyricist Seed Gillani was the chief guest. Sikandar Hayat Sikandar conducted the proceedings.
The poets recited pieces of poetry to express reverence for the Holy Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and won appreciation.
Some of the poets included Saeed Gillani, Farooq Jan Azad, Sajid Sarhadi, Sheen Shoukat, Basheer Amir, Mohammad Nawaz, Ali Awais and Ijaaz Khalid.
The chief guest Saeed Gillani said the salvation of the Muslims was in acting upon the teachings of the Holy Quran and following the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).
Farooq Jan Azad praised the organizers for arranging a function to exhibit love for the Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him ) through beautiful poetic verses.
Earlier, Attiq Khan welcomed the guests. He said Hindko naatia mushaira was among the permanent annual activities of the Gandhara Hindko Board.
He said the board had been working since its launch in 1993 for the preservation and promotion of Hindko which was the second main language of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and sixth widely spoken language of the country.
