Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan on Tuesday appreciated the role of Telenor Group in the telecommunication sector of country and instructed them to extend their services to FATA. The Governor further said there is a huge investment plan for reconstruction of tribal areas and repatriation of IDPs will be started soon.
He was talking to a delegation of Telenor Group which led by its CEO of the Group, Michael Foley called on him here at the Governor’s House, Peshawar. While commending Telenor Group for its contribution towards national security, the Governor urged the Telenor Group to encourage local manufacturing in FATA by involving local community, administrative support and by convincing tribesmen of the area.
Assuring Government’s continued support; he expressed the hope that the Telenor would expand its operations in the FATA so as to utilize the existing potential of the FATA in telecom sector for the mutual benefit of all.
Michael Foley briefed the Governor about his group and its operations in Pakistan and informed him that Telenor is one of the world’s major mobile operators with more than millions subscriptions.
The Delegation expressed their condolence over the Army Public School incident. In response the Governor said that the APS incident was a devastating and shocking. But the state of unity emerged in rank and file of nation is indeed a source of strength for all of us..
Michael Foley thanked the Governor for meeting and reiterated his company’s commitment towards facilitating the people of FATA with telecommunication solutions.
The delegation also included Mohammad Yahya Khan (Vice President Easy Paisa Telenor), Mohammad Aslam Hayat (Chief Cooperate Affairs and Secretary Officer) and other concern officials.
