Peshawar: Jamiate Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Khyber Agency on Monday demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to remove technical errors in electoral rolls holding elections in national assembly constituency NA-46 Tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency.
JUI-F senior naib ameer Haji Shamsuddin Afridi demanded in a news conference that before holding the election ECP must ensure impartial and fair polling stations.
He said ECP has announced schedule for holding election on May 12, in constituency NA-46 Khyber Agency, which he termed was completely illogical, demanding to immediate suspend holding of election on this constituency.
He said the most of former contesting candidates from Khyber agency, in last general election, made demand to ECP for making correction in the voter lists and establishment of equal polling stations, and booths, wherein registered voters resided, but no step was taken in this regard.
Afridi said if the election commission of Pakistan had authorized to hold election within 90 days, then why it was shown reluctant for conducting electoral process in the national assembly constituency NA-38 lower Kurram agency, because the situation was quite stable in the tribal agency.
Accompanied by JUI-F activists from Khyber agency, Abdul Wahab, Umar Nasir Afridi, Maulana Mohammad Ajmal, Mohammad Daud and others, he said the situation of Khyber agency is totally different as compared to rest tribal agencies and part of the country, adding that about 90 percent registered voters of NA -46 had been living in temporarily shelters in settled areas.
Similarly, he said around 60 percent residents of Tirah and Maiden valleys were shifted to district Peshawar, while rest of them, residing in district Hangu, Kohat and Peshawar.
