Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education and Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani has said that the present PTI-led provincial government introduced a new form of governance in the province where merit, transparency and accountability was ensured and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has considered education as a tool for development, therefore a sizable budgetary allocations had set aside for education sector in the ADP.
He expressed these views, while addressing the concluding session of 1st International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering & Management Sciences, which was held in Islamabad, on Wednesday.
He said, the present government, for the first time in the history of the province, has recruited 8500 educators’ through an independent and reputed testing organization (NTS) and more educators will be recruited in the coming months to accomplish the target of 100 percent literacy rate in the province and keeping in view the importance of women education, age limit has been reduced for females to get admission in any degree program in the Universities, he added.
The Minister said, ‘‘we have ensured merit- based system as the core values for the development of our institutions. The educational institutions and universities of the province are being strengthened to conduct cutting edge research on issues faced by our society and in this regard the solutions provided by such research must be cost effective and sustainable” the Minister maintained.
At the end, The Minister said that the recommendations of such conference were helpful for government in shaping education policy. He also congratulated the conference organizing committee particularly, President City University Peshawar, Sabur Seethi and Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal for hosting such wonderful event.
