Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association (KPSWA) heave celebrated the world sports day aimed at restoring peace via sports in the Pakistan and particularly in KP.
The event was held under the auspices of KPSWA at Media Center, Qayyum Sports Complex, in which sports journalists, office-bearers of different sports association and a huge number of sports lovers took part.
Speaking on the occasion, the KPSWA president Jehanzeb Siddiq said that sports played a very vital role in a society because through various games young generation could be protect from wicked activities, adding a healthy nation could only be possible wherein sports activities arranged for masses.
Besides healthy nation, he said peace was possible in the entire world while players were the real ambassadors of a nation who represented their nation at global level. He maintained that due to war on terror on the soil of Pakistan and specially in KP province had badly damaged sports activates but the players had showed courage despite to surrender before the situation and they were fully participating in domestic as well as in international games.
He said players were the real assets but the government properly did not pay heed towards the issues being faced by players. He added that there were much talented players in KP but due to lack of proper facilities the real talent was spoiling .The KPSWA president demanded of the federal and provincial governments to enhance and provide the sports facilities to players which would promote the sports activities across the country.
He said that since the establishment of the KPSWA, the members of the association had played a positive role in the promotion of sports in KP and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA). He ensured that the sports association would continue its efforts for sports promotion in future.
