Peshawar:KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that his government is making endeavors to provide congenial atmosphere to the investors and industrialists for the industrial uplift of the province and addressing their problems on priority basis.
He was talking to representative delegations of Cherat Cement, Lucky Cement and other industrial units led by Salman Farooq, Usman Jhagra and Humayun Khan at CM House Peshawar. The delegations apprised him of their certain problems faced by them.
Pervez Khattak said the Government was also making sincere efforts to utilize the natural resources of the province to the optimum level on its development alongside the other available resources and on the well being of the masses.
“We are trying to give an attractive package and atmosphere to the investors for the promotion of investment in the province which also includes tapping the hydel resources for generation of inexpensive electricity”, he added.
Chief Minister said as many as six new industrial zones are being established at various parts of the province whereas all these industrial estates are also being handed over to the private sector in a bid to properly look after the interests of the industrialist community. He said unfortunately majority of the population of KP was faced with poverty and unemployment and held the previous regimes for this neglect.
He told that the KP government was also endeavoring for the creation of a society where rich and poor were treated at par and every citizen was bound to go by rules and regulations. The political interference in government departments and the tradition of red-tapism have been abolished and pursuing a policy wherein speedy development was ensured, he added.
Pervez Khattak assured the delegation that their genuine problems would be addressed on priority basis however at the same time he also directed them to take solid measures for halting emission of poisonous chemicals and smoke from their industrial units as it created health hazards in their respective areas. He told them the use of scientific means could help control environmental pollution and promoting plantation.
The department of Environment, he said would cooperate with them in this noble cause, adding the KP government also started billion tree tsunami program to increase a forestation area and control environmental hazards. Similarly he said, in big cities like Peshawar, a comprehensive program has been chalked out for scientific disposal of the municipal solid waste in order to ensure clean and hygienic condition.
The mineral sector he said was also being developed on modern lines and under a comprehensive policy, the mineral resources of the province would be utilized on scientific lines for the benefit of the people. First ever mineral policy, he said has been prepared by his government while preparation of the industrial policy was in the final stages. He said the mineral policy would also help increase revenue sources of the province.
He told the delegations that progress has been made in exploration of oil and gas deposits of the province and “we do hope big increase in our provincial receipts in the coming years”, he added. The government efforts, he said would also help promote employment opportunities, and opening up of new vistas of exports besides increasing GDP.
