Peshawar: Mardan clinched the two day women judo inter divisional championship while Peshawar and Swat got second and third positions respectively here on Wednesday at Arena hall, Qayyum Stadium Peshawar.
Women players from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Hazara and Kohat took part in the two day championship organized by Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the auspices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judo Association.
In the final round of 52 kg weight contest, Haseena Naaz of Mardan got gold, Nadia of Swat silver and Tanzeela of Peshawar and Muneeza of Swat won bronze medals. However, in 44 kg weight competition Nadia of Swat won gold, Allia of Peshawar silver and Safina of DIK got bronze medals.
Of 57 kg weight competition, Muhsina of Mardan met with first, Muqadas of Peshawar second while Nahida of Bannu and Kulsoom of Hazara got third positions. Meanwhile in 44 kg weight fighting Sunehra of Mardan won gold medal and in 36 kg weight category Abida of Mardan got gold medal, Sheeba of DIK silver and Nadia of Peshawar and Sana of Kohat won bronze. Though in 40 kg weight contest Sabeeha of Swat won gold medal.
Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Sports KP was the chief guest of the event who awarded the winner players with medals while Masaod Ahmad, provincial president judo association, Ghani Rahman, vice president, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association, Gulnar Begum, Director Sports Postgraduate College Mardan and others were also present on the occasion.
