Peshawar: National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pukhtunkhwa has almost complete the inquiry against a sitting minister in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa cabinet and soon a reference would be filed against him.
Speaking to a news conference additional director NAB Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Tariq Khan said that the minister now belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf but he was part of the ANP led cabinet and NAB is inquiring against him for his past tenure.
He said that in last forty days NAB has arrested twenty one persons involved in embezzlement of public funds and misuse of authority. ” these include some high profile cases such as weapon scam in which NAB has arrested former IGP Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, brother of a former ANP chief minister, two officers of grade 20 and 19 and a director of information department Khyber Pukhtunkhwa,” he said.
in last three years, he said NAB has recovered 1349 million rupees which were embezzled in various cases through mal practices and miss use of authority. He said that a former secretary Housing and sitting member of Chief Minister’s inspection team Zakiullah and Additional Accountant General Pakistan Revenue Sharifullah were arrested for causing loss of Rs 400 million to exchequer while acquiring land for Housing scheme for government servant in Nathia Gali.
Tariq said NAB is also inquiring fake- housing schemes in the province as nine inquiries have been started in various cases and five of them are completed.
To a question he said volunteer returned and plea bargain in some of the cases are accepted while in major scams NAB has rejected both of the offers and filed references against the culprits.
Replying to yet another question, Tariq said that NAB never arrests a person until it complete its inquiry and collect all the evidences against the accused.
