Pervez Khattak meets delegation of shopkeepers and elite of Pabbi about removal of encroachments from GT Road

Peshawar: KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has reiterated the pledge of his PTI-led coalition govt that all the cities and towns as well as the highways would be cleansed from encroachments and would be replaced with green belts and parks to add its beautification.

He asked the traders, shopkeepers and elite of cities and towns alongside GT road including Pabbi, Nowshera, Akora Khattak and Jehangira to fully cooperate with district and municipal authorities for removal of encroachment, ensuring health and hygiene and beautification in their surroundings. He said that Peshawar was emerging as clean and green city to be replicated with other localities especially towns on both sides GT Road till Khairabad Bridge.

He was talking to delegations of the traders and elite of Pabbi, Akora Khattak and Nowshera at CM Secretariat Peshawar. Besides the elected representatives from the area including Mian Atiqur Rehman, Mian Jamshedudin Kakakhel, Muhammad Idrees, Secretary LG & RD Jamil Ahmad, DG PDA Salim Khan, Administrator MCP Rasheed Ahmad and authorities of Pabbi and other municipalities were also present on these occasions.

Chief Minister said that his govt would undertake all the steps of removing encroachments and ensuring beautification and greenery and with active cooperation of the traders, shopkeeper community and elite of the concerned area wherein authoritative committees were being constituted with majority of local representation.

He said that from no onward all civic needs of the people would be fulfilled and facilities ensure with proper master planning whereas support and cooperation of the citizens was also essential in this regard. He said that all the bazaars and markets would be beautified with proper designs and colours while encroachment would be removed for good without any discrimination.

Similarly traffic system would also be managed properly. However he said that his govt would never do injustice nor any individual would be rendered jobless but better means of earning would be arranged for them. He said that those affected in the removal of encroachment would be given alternative places for earning.

He said bachat bazaars were being planned in Pabbi, Nowshera, Jehangira and Akora Khattak to accommodate affectees of the encroachments whereas four bachat bazaars were being setup in Peshawar city that besides providing alternate and better job opportunities would also ensure availability of essential daily items to the people at reasonable rates.

Pervez Khattak said that his govt considered local bodies as key to solving problems of the people and accelerating pace of development at local level and thus has entrusted all the authority of holding local govt elections in the province so that no doubt could remain in this regard. He said that his govt was serious in these polls and transferring all the powers and resources at gross roots level as soon as possible.

He vowed that PTI-led coalition govt had started preparation for holding LG elections soon after coming at the helm of affairs and for this purpose besides the delimitations of UC wards, a comprehensive LG act was introduced wherein contrary to the other provinces, maximum powers and financial resources were devolved to village and union councils.

However he recalled that in wake of the decision of the Supreme Court, the next phase was awaited while his govt has also made legislation on biometric system recently. The Chief Minister assured proper resolution of the problems put forth by members of the delegations on this occasion.
