Political interference in Apex chamber polls slated

Peshawar: United Business Group (UBG) of FPCCI has nominated renowned businessmen Mian Azizur Rehman Chan as candidate for vice presidency of the FPCCI from Punjab.

The decision was taken in a meeting jointly chaired by Chairman UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik and Patron-in-Chief SM Muneer.

The meeting was attended representatives of by dozens of chambers and associations across the stretch of Punjab.

Speaking at the occasion, SM Muneer, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Hameed Akhtar Chadda, presidential candidate Abdul Rauf Alam, Malik Sohail and others said that rejected group has indulged in politics of mudslinging which is polluting the environment.

They said that UBG enjoys backing of 90 percent of the business community as those who ruled and misused FPCCI for decades have been side lined by them in the last elections.

The Businessmen Panel which lost elections last year has realised their defeat in the upcoming elections therefore they have invited some politicians to interfere in the elections which in intolerable.

The speakers warned politicians not to meddle in the affairs of business community otherwise they would get a firm response.

SM Muneer said that opponents lacked any person to contest elections therefore they selected a former president of the FPCCI to contest for them which has never happened in the history of federal chamber.

He said that FPCCI is now a corruption-free institution which will continue to help business community because we believe in democracy and the days of dictatorship are over forever.
