Pushto singer seeks protection


Peshawar: Famous Pashto singer Gulzar Alam has urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to provide him protection and help him to get his property.

Pushto singer alleged his sons and brother are threatening him for life asking.

Addressing a news conference at Press Club on Monday, he said he had three sons from the first wife naming Salman Gulzar, Shan Gulzar and Khatir Gulzar. He said that he has fulfilled their basic rights of education and marriages, adding he also did whatever possible for younger brothers Sher Ali, Sardar Ali and Riaz.

Gulzar Alam said that in 1992 he married with Ruksana Muqaddas and has six children, four son and two daughters from the second wife.

He alleged his brothers and his sons have deprived his of all the property and now he is passing a hard life. ” i live in a rented home now and nothing else provide my children from the 2nd wife,” he said .

Being a singer, he said he has to perform in functions but now facing threats which minimized his movement that caused him financial problems.

Ruksana Muqadas, wife of Gulzar on the occasion said that Gulzar performed different parts of the world as well as serving in different media organizations besides working for welfare of the artists and led from the front to raise voice for the preservation of their rights.

“We want only our legal rights therefor government and Gulzar’s friends should play the role to resolve the issue as we are facing financial problems,” she said.
