Peshawar: Religious parties in their joint protest rally on Friday demanded of Islamic countries to cut off their diplomatic relations with France and declare their ambassadors as persons non grata.
Through their joint resolution they demanded of the United Nations ensure legislation which would declare dishonor of any religion, prophet and sacred books as crime so in future no body would dare to dishonor religion and prophets.
Joint meeting of religious parties urged France to apologize Muslim world for publishing blasphemous caricatures which hurt the sentiments of 1. 5 billion Muslims around the world.
Chanting slogans against the France, hundreds of workers of different parties including Jamat-e-Islmai, JUI (F), JUI (S), Markaze Ahle Hadice, Alami Majlis Khatme-Nabowat, Tanzeem Ishat-o-Tawheed, Ahle-Sunat and Jamat and other parties Marched from Khyber Bazar to Suikarno Square where a big public rally was organized.
The rally was addressed by JI Khyber Pukhtunkhwa acting amir Hakim Abdul Waheed, JUI’s provincial chief Maulana Gul Naseeb, Maulana Ismail Darwish, Sabir Hussain Awan, Maulana Khaairul Bashar and others.
They strongly condemned the repeated publication of blasphemous caricatures and expressed apprehensions that such publications could endanger world’s peace therefor this practice must be stopped.
The protesters, who were continuously chanting slogans against the French government, demanded printing of insulting material should be stopped.They said that France and other European countries should not allow production of sacrilegious material in the name of freedom of expression.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the blasphemous cartoons.
Speakers said leaders of Muslim countries should ask the French government and other members of the European Union to place ban on printing of sacrilegious material in print media.
Speakers also demanded of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to play his role in convening meeting of Organization of Islamic Council and devise a joint strategy to stop publication of blasphemous caricatures.
