Peshawar: The accused Saeed Khan, Patwari was arrested on 3rd April, 2014 by NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the allegations of assets beyond means. During the investigation it was proved / surfaced that the accused has accumulated illegal assets of worth Rs. 22.380 Million.
During the physical remand with the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the accused accepted his guilt and requested that he may be dismissed from service and pensionery benefits and all other perks and privileges may also be forfeited and the illegal money to the tune of Rs. 22.380 Million may also be deposited in National Exchequer. As per NAO, 1999 the accused Saeed Khan, Patwari is deemed convicted. He will face all the repercussions of offence except imprisonment.
The readiness of Saeed Khan Patwari to deposit Rs. 22.38 Million in the National Exchequer is a testimony of the fact that NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa collected strong evidence against the accused. He will not only loose his Govt Job but will also be deprived of pensionery benefits.
The proceedings of Plea Bargain under the Law culminated at the Accountability Court. It has all the ingredients of conviction except imprisonment. It is fastest way of punishment under the Law of the Land after proceedings and approval of the Court as well as to avoid lengthy process of litigation.
Moreover, the accused will neither be able to hold any Public Office nor will be able to take any loan from any Bank for next 10 years. It is to clarify that Plea Bargain is an Internationally accepted option given to the accused.
NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa further clarified that NAB can again act against the accused, if further information of illegal assets along-with strong evidence is received at any stage, later.
