Safi tribe alleges Senator for occupying marble reserves


Peshawar: Elders from Safi tribe of Mohmand Agency on Monday demanded the government to take notice of ‘illegal control’ of influential people on marble reserves, located in Mohmand agency.

They said that the marble reserves are jointly owned by Safi tribe saying if government did not pay heeds to our demands their will be no other option except to protest on the road.

Speaking at a news conference at press club Noor Rehman Safi of Sabi tribe said that marble reserves of Ziayarat are collectively owned by the Safi tribe however these reserves were being ‘occupied by Senator Mohammad Idrees Khan Safi’ which is misuse of power.

He further added the Senator was given ‘threatening’ Assistant political Agent (APA) upper Mohmand Agency, for dire consequences incase of any sore of action against this occupation.

” Senator’s brother obtained illegal NOC to get control of marble reserves,” he said adding elders of filed a petition with office of FCR commissioner, against illegal occupation on the marble reserves, but yet to get any respond .

He further said the Director Mine and Mineral Khyber Pakhutnkhwa had also issued a notice against ‘illegal occupation’ but still these reserves were in control of the influential person.

The tribal elders demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi, and Additional Secretary Fata Mohammad Azam to take notice the issue seek explanation from APA Mohmand Agency.
