Shaukat asks Federal Govt: to lift ban on gas connections for new industries


Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Industries, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai while deciding to establish new industrial estates in the province has asked federal government to lift ban on gas connections regarding the establishment of new industries and to restore the incentives of Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate. He said industrial development was not possible without special incentives due to terrorism in the province.

This he said while talking to the Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment, Mohsin Aziz in Peshawar on Thursday. Additional Secretary Industries Muhammad Tariq and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.

Shaukat Yousafzai on this occasion repeated his commitment to bring about a real change in the department and said that collective and responsible struggle was the need of hour for the betterment of the province. There were huge issues needed to be taken in this regard. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being a frontline and gas producing province should be provided incentives by federal government and ban on gas supply for new industries should also be lifted. He also decided to establish management board in the technical educational institutions to ensure their performance. He said only theory was not enough.

He directed the concerned to provide material estimate in this regard as soon as possible as he wants to put it up in upcoming budget. The Minister also decided to restructure the Small Industries Development Board and Sarhad Development Authority to ensure the industrial development in the province.
