Peshawar: Constantly suspension of electricity to Town-IV, Qaumi (national) Committee threatened to cut off all supply lines connecting other areas if power were not restored while all the responsibilities would rest with Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and government.
The committee comprised of political activists from different political parties including Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz PML-N), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) gave the threat during a press conference here at Press Club on Monday.
Muhammad Arshad Advocate, a convener of the committee said that the entire country in general while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particularly worst affected due to deteriorating law and order situation adding that despite a little bit lull in the province, there was no calm in Badh Ber and its adjacent areas, which destroyed education, health, economy of the masses. He maintained that even Masajid (Mosques) were ruined.
He said that on one hand, they had been falling prey to militancy for several years but on the other, scourge of loadshedding was made upon them and the Pesco authority completely suspended the power to all the dwellers of town-IV including hundreds villages. (There is no pilfering in Badh Ber Sheikh Muhammadi areas”, he claimed. The power suspension, he informed that caused compulsion of displacement of the locals owing to non-availability of water.
The Sheikh Muhammadi Grid Station and big towers, he said that had been installed on green lands and due to which, all the lands became infertile, so the committee demanded of the provincial and central government to restore the power supply forthwith and waive all arrears after the residents while the areas under jurisdiction of town-IV be declared war-affected and announcement financial package to them so that the people could not be compelled to dislocate.
It is pertinent to mention here that the inhabitants of Badh Ber and other areas have been facing worst situation of unannounced loadshedding for utmost years and the power supply was completely suspended.
