Peshawar: Five accused involved in the firing incident that occurred in Kohat and left four persons dead were arrested on Tuesday and cases against them under 7-ATA were registered.
According to police, five accused involved in Kohat firing identified Abid, Haider, Ghazanfar, Mazhar and Mairim were arrested and case under 7ATA was also registered against them. The arms and ammunition recovered from them included 7 Riffles, one machinegun and 3 pistols.
According to police 8 other persons were also arrested on the charges of arson, looting and damaging public property while 2 persons were taken into police custody on provocative speeches.
They were charged in two different cases and police started investigation against the arrested accused.
Inspector General Police has also instructed the concerned authorities to attain the CCTV footage of Kohat firing incident.
It is pertinent to mention that at least four people including two policemen were killed as two armed groups exchanged fire on Monday.
An angry mob set several shops ablaze following the armed clash. The situation in Kohat remained tense and troops were called in to maintain law and order.
City administration and police sealed the entry and exit points of the city, while residents were also directed to stay indoors. Later, curfew was imposed in Kohat and Hangu.
Intermediate examinations were also cancelled for indefinite period in the wake of violence.
