Peshawar: Three persons including two policemen were killed and three others sustained injuries as violence erupted in Zargaran Bazaar area of Kohat after which curfew has been imposed and Army has been called to take control of the city.
Police said activists of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, were carrying out a protest against the recent violence in Rawalpindi however when they were dispersing some people fired on the people near the imambargah which led to the trouble and the protesters set ablaze some shops.
During the clash several others were injured while an angry mob of a religious group had set a number of shops on fire in Tirah bazaar, police said. To control the situation Curfew has been imposed after which the army was called in, police said. Due to the growing tension, law enforcement agencies had also imposed curfew in Hangu and the army took control of both the cities. However two hours later the district administration lifted curfew in Hangu.
Because of Tension Kohat university has been closed while shops in Hangu Bazar are closed.
Meanwhile CM Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Appealed to the people to remain peaceful and avoid violence while protesting against Rawalpindi Incident. CM said that Khyber Pukhtunkhwa has already been badly hit by terrorism therefore it could not afford any further disturbance in law and order.
He appealed to Ulema and Mashaikh to play their important role to maintain peace in the province.
