CM talks to delegation including journalists of PPC

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak while acknowledging the reformative and creative capabilities and contributions of journalists, has confided that they will play vital role in making the efforts on steering the nation out of the recent crises and challenges a successful story, highlighting the local issues and social problems of the masses for correction as well as guiding both the public and the government in the right direction.

He said that in the prevalent scenario when the country especially the province was facing the challenges of the curse of terrorism, maintaining law & order and struggle for its due rights, there lies a great responsibility on the shoulders of the journalists community of this region to mould the public opinion on the right path, effectively project the issue of provincial rights at national fora and support the provincial government’s efforts to this effect.

He was talking to various delegations of media community including journalists led by President Peshawar Press Club Nasir Hussain at CM House Peshawar. The PPC delegation also included its GS Fida Adeel, President KhUJ Nisar Mehmood, Chairman Housing Committee PPC Riaz Daudzai, Syed Ali Hazrat Bacha, Syed Bukhar Shah, Ibrahim Khan, Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Farooq Firaq, Asif Wadud, Jehanzeb Siddique and Ahmad Waheed. Additional Secretary Information Nasir Khan and Director Information Behramand Jan were also present.

The chief minister assured solving all problems and demands of the delegation and assured on spot directives in this regard. He while substantiating the verdict of the KP govt and PTI said issues are always solved through dialogue.

He said that the federal government has principally agreed to initiate dialogue with Taliban with a condition of cease fire and stopping bloodshed of innocent people, and thus side by side with all other segments of society, it was a national responsibility of the journalists and media community to play their due role in making the peace process a success.

Pervez Khattak said that his government has initiated political and legal struggle to revive the economy of the province that was badly affected due to unrest and terrorism.

He said having a full control on our natural resources, increasing the energy resources on war footings, receiving the huge amount payable to the province by the federal government in the head of hydel net profit and resolving other issues of the province are linked with the friendly and sympathetic attitude and consideration of federal government.

He urged upon the journalists of the province to second the provincial government’s efforts to this effect and effectively highlight these issues at national level. “Building a soft image of the province globally is another challenge for which the media alongside the provincial government has to do a lot”, maintained the chief minister and added that his government was committed to fight the menace of corruption and purge the government machinery of all kind of malpractices, nepotism and inefficiency and to make it subservient to the people’s aspirations with the aim to establish a true Islamic welfare society which had long been dreamt of since our freedom and inception of the Pakistan.

He said flood of investment and economic activities would pour in here if succeeded in this mission wherein not a single youth would remain jobless and then we would not follow the world but the world would copy us, he concluded.
